Homemade fabric rosettes for hanging which are also ideal as Christmas decorations. Make fabric rosettes from fabric circles and iron-on foil. Cover the card circle with fabric and stitch in place with tacking stitches using a needle and thread. You don't need a sewing machine.

1   Draw and cut out rosettes using a template. To make one rosette: cut three fabric circles; one large and two of the second smallest using the template. Cut two circles from iron-on foil; one small and one of the second smallest.

2   Following the instructions on the packaging, iron the smallest iron-on foil circle onto the back of one of the small fabric circles. Iron the other iron-on foil circle onto the middle of the front of the other small fabric circle.

3   Make a 0.5 cm edge and sew with small tacking stitches all the way around the circle as shown in the photo. Do not secure the thread.

4   Cut out the second largest circle from the template sheet.

5   Place the cut-out card circle in the middle of the large fabric circle with the stitched edge. Tighten the thread around the card circle by pulling both ends of the thread. Leave an opening and tie a knot.

6   Cover the button with fabric, using the fabric circle with the silver iron-on foil circle in the middle. Make this button as a glitter button as shown on the packaging.

7   Glue the remaining fabric circle into the hole on the front of the rosette with the card circle inside. Use an object to push the fabric into the hole so that the fabric protrudes. Attach the glitter button on top. Use a glue gun.

8   Cut a 20 cm ribbon, double it over and attach the ends onto the back of the rosette using a glue gun.

9   Apply a thin stripe of silver glitter glue along the edge of the rosette and the fabric circle in the middle.
