Self-hardening clay jewellery dish

Create a unique and personal jewellery dish in the shape of a handprint. The perfect gift idea from a child for Mother’s Day, for grandparents, birthdays or as a lasting memory of a little hand. Once the clay has dried, the child can paint the jewellery dish in his or her favourite colour.

How to do it

Knead the clay well and roll it out to around 5 mm thick. Have the child press a hand into the clay to make an impression. Cut the clay around the handprint.

Smooth the edges of the clay with a little water to make them soft and even.

Roll out a little more clay to 2-3 mm thick and cut out a heart. Smooth the edges of the heart and press it firmly into the middle of your hand. If necessary, use a little water to attach the two parts.

Find a bowl without sharp edges on the bottom (because this will make marks) and place your clay hand on the bottom of the bowl as shown in the picture. Allow to dry completely for 24-48 hours. Once your hand has hardened, you can move it away from the bowl so that it can dry on the other side.
