Picasso-inspired linoleum prints
How to do it
Take pictures of each other both in profile and from the front and print out. You may omit photos and instead draw portraits of each other - from the front and in profile. Combine them into one portrait - see step 2.
Draw a combined portrait of both photos on a lino sheet. You may go over the design with a black marker. This makes it obvious that everything that is NOT black must be cut away.
Cut out the design with a lino cutter. REMEMBER! Cut away anything that should be white on the print!!!
Roll block printing ink onto the finished design with a lino roller.
Place watercolour paper larger than the lino sheet on top and roll the back of the paper with a clean lino roller.
Lift the paper and allow to dry.
Trim the picture and put it in a picture mount.
Work with the image by making sections or motion in the lines that you want to cut. The direction of the lines can add a lot to the finished look!
Make a test print. This will determine if you need to cut away more of the lino sheet.
