Macramé snowflakes for hanging

1 Cut a 23 cm piece of cotton twine and 12 pieces of cotton twine each measuring 40 cm.

2 Braid the 12 pieces of cotton twine onto the short piece of cotton twine as shown in the photo.

3 Tie a knot on the short piece of cotton twine.

4 Tighten the knot and tie another knot thus tying a reef knot.

5 Secure both ends with a needle and trim. Gather the pieces of cotton twine in 6 bunches each consisting of 4 pieces of cotton twine.

6 Print the template which is available as a separate PDF file on this page and place the braiding on top. Make two double braiding knots from each side of the 6 points on the template.

7 Take two pieces of cotton twine from each side and make a braiding knot between the 6 points as shown in the photo.

8 Divide the pieces of cotton twine from the bunches yet again and make two double braiding knots on each of the points.

9 Trim the excess cotton twine on five of the six points.

10 Thread two wooden beads onto the the two pieces of cotton twine at the sixth point and tie a knot for hanging.
