Crepe Flowers on Base

Make colourful crepe flowers that can stand on any flat surface. Create the base in self-hardening clay and colour the edges of the petals with the stamp pad and sponge. The flowers can be placed on the dinner table, for example, to add a colourful touch to your table setting.

1   This kit contains templates for four flower designs on a clay base.

Cut out the parts for the first flower in Design 3 using the template. Remember to make three flowers of each design, for a total of 12 flowers.

2   Twist the flower stamens.

3   Glue the seed pod onto the flower stick.

5   Dab the ends with stamp ink.

6   Dab the edges of the leaves with stamp ink.

9   Shape the flower by pulling at the top in the direction of the crepe paper grain.

10   Cut off the stems and use the pieces for the next flower design. It doesn't matter if they have different lengths. They should be staggered to create a nice asymmetrical flower stem.

11   Glue the crepe strips onto the thick flower stem.

12   Attach the three flowers to the stem using glue and a crepe strip. Cover the stem with glue and twist the crepe paper around it.

13   Use the template to cut out the flower pieces for Design 2.

14   Twist the flower stamens.

15   Glue the stamens around the stem.

16   Dip a sponge in stamp ink and dab thin stripes onto the flower head.

17   Glue the flower head together to form a tube.

18   Pull the flower head down over the stamens and apply a little glue to the stem and bottom of the flower head edge. Squeeze the base of the flower head around the stem, gradually applying more glue if necessary.

19   Glue on the three leaves.

20   Shape the flower by gently pulling in the direction of the crepe paper grain.

21   Gently stretch the leaves to shape them.

22   Glue the crepe strips onto the thick flower stem.

32   Carefully shape each flower. Glue the crepe strips onto the stems and then onto the thick stem as with the previous designs.

33   Cut out the flower pieces for the 1st flower in Design 4.

34   Dab the edge of the petals and half of the small leaves with stamp ink.

35   The thick flower stem is used here. Glue the two small leaves onto the stem opposite each other.

36   Now glue on the leaves.

37   Make the small flowers on the thin stems.

38   Carefully shape each flower.

39   Now attach the two stems onto the thick stem as described earlier.

40   Knead the clay for the flower base thoroughly and moisten with a little water if necessary.

41   Divide the clay into four pieces and shape the flower bases. Insert the stem into the clay and pinch the clay around the stem. Allow to dry for around 48 hours.
