A Shaker Card and Envelope with Giraffe Designs and handmade Paper
Make your own shaker card with a matching envelope from card and handmade paper. The greeting card and envelope are decorated with punched-out giraffes and mini glass beads behind a piece of transparent hard foil.
How to do it
Cut a piece of card measuring 21 x 15 cm.
Place the piece of cut-out card on the grooved side of the scoring board and score along the middle of the card for folding.
Use a paper trimmer for cutting strips from handmade paper, matching the dimensions of the front of the greeting card.
Attach the strips onto the front of the greeting card using double-sided adhesive tape.
Punch out an oval from a piece of card using the second largest die. Load the die-cutting machine as follows: "Cutting Mat" at the bottom, card, die and finally "Platform" at the top.
Punch out a large giraffe from handmade paper.
Use the punched-out card oval as a template for cutting out a hard foil oval.
Place the cut-out giraffe on top of the card oval, trimming it so that it follows the edges of the oval.
Attach the card oval and the paper giraffe onto the front of the greeting card using double-sided adhesive tape.
Punch out an oval frame from a double-sided adhesive 3D foam pad by placing the third largest die inside the second largest die. Make sure that the dies don't slide out of position by attaching them to each other with a couple of pieces of tape.
Attach the double-sided adhesive 3D foam pad frame onto the greeting card by removing the protective layer.
Sprinkle mini glass beads inside the frame.
Punch out an oval frame from handmade paper using the same procedure as when punching out the foam pad frame.
Remove the other protective layer from the double-sided adhesive foam pad frame. Place the hard foil oval on top of the 3D foam pad frame and attach the paper frame on top using double-sided adhesive tape.
Make a card envelope using the scoring board. Follow the score guide on the back of the scoring board. The piece of card for the envelope for this idea measures 21 x 21 cm. Place the card along the scale on the left at 8.8. Score in the groove diagonally. Repeat at the other end of the card.
Place the other two sides of the card so that the grooved line is extended on the "Score Guide" and score again.
Cut notches where the lines cross and punch the corners with the supplied paper punch. You may line your envelope by making a template from handmade paper which fits inside the envelope and then glue it inside the envelope.
Punch out small giraffes and glue them onto the front of the envelope.
