A macramé wall hanging braided in a semi circle
#v15881
Braid a wall hanging using the macramé technique. Braid loop knots (consists of making two knots; i.e. two windings) around a wooden stick and repeat these all the way around. Begin in the middle and braid around in semi circles. You will need approx. 52 m cotton twine for this wall hanging.

How to do it

1 Cut 14 x 260 cm pieces of cotton twine and attach these around the wooden stick as you go along. Also cut 13 x 130 cm pieces of cotton twine and braid these into the braided semi circle as you go along. Tie 2 x 260 cm pieces of cotton twine around the wooden stick with a loop. Take the second cord from the left (cord No. 2) and pull it towards the right at an angle, braiding loop knots around it with the cord on the far left (cord No. 1), i.e. make two windings around cord No. 2 with cord No. 1 as shown in the photo. Repeat this procedure with cord No. 3 and 4 and tighten the cords.

2 Take the cord on which all the other cords are braided and braid it around the wooden stick as shown in the photo.

3 Repeat this procedure so that you end up with a loop, resulting in three sets of cords around the wooden stick.

4 Tie another 260 cm piece of cotton twine around the wooden stick on the right doubled over with a loop. Take the second cord from the right (cord No. 5) and pull it towards the left at an angle.

5 Braid loop knots with each cord around the mentioned cord moving towards the opposite side. Secure – like before – the cord on which all the other cords are braided and tie it around the wooden stick with a loop, but don't tighten the knot just yet.

6 Double over a 130 cm piece of cotton twine and tie it around the around the cotton twine on the far left at the very top by the stick as shown in the photo. Feed the doubled-over end through the braiding from the back and make a loop around the cord on which all the cords are braided. Tighten the cords.

7 Tie another 260 cm piece of cotton twine around the wooden stick on the left doubled over with a loop. Repeat steps 5 and 6, this time from left towards right. Attach a 130 cm doubled-over piece of cotton twine as described previously but this time on the far right at the very top by the stick.
