Relief and Patinating Techniques

The 3D liner is ideal for adding a patterned design to surfaces which can be enhanced with a patinating technique. Draw directly onto the surface with the fine drawing tip of the bottle and leave to dry. Plus Color craft paint is excellent for rubbing on top with a foam stencil brush – a fun and exciting technique.

How to do it
1 When patinating on a surface, apply one or two colours on top of a dark base colour. Plus Color craft paint is ideal for patinating. Here we have chosen black craft paint for the base colour. Leave to dry completely.
2 Apply the 3D liner relief paint with the fine drawing tip of the bottle. Choose whether you want complete or part texture on the surface of your chosen item. Here we have chosen a variant with gold glitter which adds an exciting effect later.
3 Dab and rub Plus Color craft paint onto the surface using a foam stencil brush – only a thin layer.
4 Use a slightly damp foam stencil brush for rubbing across the surface with light circular movements before the paint has dried completely. This makes the glitter effect of the 3D liner and the black base colour show through.
5 You may continue on the entire papier-mâché item. Leave to dry.
