Make this beautiful tulip bouquet using soft pipe cleaners. Pipe cleaners are both flexible and easy to shape – so much so that you can create flowers by simply folding, bending and cutting them. Follow the step-by-step instructions and be delightfully surprised at how easy they are to make.

How to do it

1 Make six petals for each tulip and fold each pipe cleaner in half.
2 Around 5 cm from the top, twist one turn.
3 Pull one end through the loop.
4 Turn the petal over and pull the other end through from the other side.
5 Tighten the two ends so that they are lying side by side.
6 Twist the two ends one time around.
7 Thread the ends back into the centre of the petal.
8 Thread the ends back into the centre of the petal.
9 Squeeze together and shape the petal.
10 Twist the ends together.
11 Make six petals and cut the stems/ends to approximately the same length.
12 Use two pipe cleaners for each leaf and fold them in half.
13 Twist the two pieces once in the middle.
14 Gather the pieces together.
15 Twist together the ends tightly.
16 Make two leaves for each tulip.
17 Glue on six petals. Start with the three inner petals.
18 Next, glue on the last three petals – one at each of the three openings in the first petal.
19 Press the petals together. Apply a dab of glue to the stem and twist tightly with floral tape down to around 8 cm.
20 Glue a leaf onto the stem and wrap the flower tape a few times around the stem.
21 Glue the last leaf and continue wrapping with the flower tape.
22 Apply a little glue to the stem, wrap the flower tape all the way to the end and cut off any excess.
23 Shape and straighten the leaves.
24 Now shape and straighten the flower petals.
