Macramé Napkin Rings

Create beautiful napkin rings in real boho style. You simply knot cord onto a wooden ring and finish it off with a bow with small wooden beads at the ends. It’s a straightforward project and you can easily make lots of them for your party table – even if you've never done macramé before.

How to do it

1 Cut 2 m of cord and double it over itself. Make a loop in the middle of the cord and pull it through the wooden ring.
2 Thread the ends of the cord through the loop.
3 Tighten (lark’s head knot).
4 Continue with the lark’s head knot with the cord on the left side and pull the cord through the ring and back again through the loop.
5 Tighten.
6 Finish the knot by looping the cord around the wooden ring again, but this time from the back and through the loop.
7 Tighten.
8 You've now made a lark’s head knot with the cord.
9 Continue with the lark’s head knot with one cord until half of the ring is covered.
10 Do the other half of the ring with the other end of the cord, again using a lark’s head knot with one cord.
11 Make two loops with the two ends.
12 To finish, make a bow by tying the loops together.
13 Thread a bead onto the end of the cord using a crochet hook.
14 Attach beads to both ends, tie a knot and cut the ends.
