Knotted macramé Santa for hanging
#v16915
Make your own Santa Claus decoration for hanging on the wall using the macramé knotting technique. Knot it using two different colours of macramé cord – red for Santa’s hat and white for Santa’s beard. This is an easy knotting project that doesn't take long to make. You will need 15 m of red cord, 30 m of off-white cord and a 20 cm stick.

2 Secure the 2 x 1 m cord using a clamp or tape. Find the middle of the 8 m cord that goes behind the two 1 m cords. Tie a half square knot around it.

Tassel Cut a piece of cardboard 18 cm high and twist the macramé cord around it 20 times. Also cut 2 x 60 cm of cord.

Beard Cut 1 x 80 cm of cord to make the beard. For the moustache: 8 x 10 cm. For the beard: 12 x 35 cm, 12 x 50 cm and 12 x 70 cm.

Beard Attach 1 x 80 cm of cord with a lark’s head knot to the left side of the stick to start making Santa’s beard.

15 Make the beard in three different lengths, which are then folded in half. Attach the 80 cm of cord using a lark's head knot. Start with 6 x 35 cm, followed by 6 x 50 cm, 12 x 70 cm, 6 x 50 cm and, finally, 6 x 25 cm.

16 Attach the cord beard with a slight curve and secure it with a lark’s head knot on the right side of the stick.

19 Shift the second row of square knots by 4 cm compared to the row above to form a diamond pattern (eight knots in total)
