How to use a punch needle

#v15574

Learn how to use a punch needle for embroidery. Thread the special embroidery needle and use it by repeatedly pushing it into the fabric. The needle leaves a loop on the back of the fabric which results in a fluffy look on one side and a smooth look on the other side . The needle can be adjusted to several settings which vary the size of the loop. It is important that the working yarn thread is unwound and loose. We recommend finishing the embroidery by securing the yarn ends and applying decoupage lacquer for fabric to the back in order to fix the yarn threads.

How to do it
Guide step %d
1   Thread the needle using the supplied wire which is passed through the needle. Feed the yarn through the loop in the wire and pull the wire back down through the shaft. This way the yarn will come out onto the front of the needle tip as shown in the photo.

2   Embroider tightly packed stitches on fabric which is mounted in an embroidery frame. When punching the needle, you make loops on the other side of the fabric. The direction of the stitches may be varied according to your chosen look. If you want to use the side with the loops as the front, then the direction of the stitches is not important.

3   You can vary the size of the loops on the shaft of the needle. The needle can be adjusted across four settings. "A" makes the longest loop and "D" makes the shortest loop.
