It is easy to draw small details (doodle) on terracotta. The rough surface of the terracotta might be a bit hard on a felt tip, therefore, we recommend varnishing the surface with decoupage lacquer for glass and porcelain prior to decorating with a black contour marker.

How to do it

1
Doodling is an a style of drawing where you make lines and patterns with a black marker and slowly cover paper surfaces and other products with this slightly graphic style. Doodling requires a good precision marker and a smooth surface, ensuring that the marker slides easily. Varnish the rough terracotta surface with decoupage lacquer for glass and porcelain and leave to dry completely.

2
Draw with a contour marker for glass and porcelain. The felt tip and the colour flows easily without running, making this marker ideal for the doodle technique. Choose whether you want to cover the item completely or partially. You
may start in a corner and cover the surface. Leave to dry.

3
Place in a cold oven. Set the temperature to 160°C (do not use a fan oven). Once the temperature has been reached, fix the terracotta item for 30 minutes. Remember to remove the rubber plug from the bottom of the terracotta money box as it is not heat resistant.
