Decoupage on a Papier-Mâché Box
#v14186
These papier-mâché boxes with a lid are primed with matt white A-Color acrylic paint. Use decoupage lacquer to cover the dry boxes with decoupage paper and straw silk paper, punched out as hearts and stars. Additional decoration is added with self-adhesive rhinestones.

How to do it

1 Prime the box and lid separately with matt white A-Color acrylic paint. This results in the sligthly transparent decoupage paper appearing as clearly as possible. Leave to dry.

2 Use decoupage lacquer for attaching small pieces of decoupage paper and straw silk paper to the outside of the papier-mâché items. Decorate the lid in 3D, for example, with a rosette made from several layers of decoupage paper.

3 Punch out hearts and stars from decoupage paper and straw silk paper with a paper punch. Punch out in layers of 2-4 at a time. You may use a piece of card for stability which makes this process easier.
