1.   Print the template, available as a separate pdf file, for this idea. Cut out the template parts and assemble them with tape. NB: A seam allowance is included.

2.   Place the templates on the fabric and cut out two sets or four parts; four parts for the inside lining and four parts for the outer bag. NB: Two parts are mirrored for each set of four parts.

3.   First make two individual bags. Place the parts outer side against outer side. Sew the four parts together that make the outer bag and sew together the four parts that make the inside lining. NB: Sew the sides together first that have the rebate at the bottom centre.

4.   Sew the shoulder strap on both “bags”, i.e. the parts that make the inside lining as well as the parts that make the outer bag. Use an iron to separate the seams as you go along.

5.   Now sew together the two bags. Place the inside lining against the outer bag (outer side against outer side) and sew the curved sides together (the shoulder strap).

6.   Turn the bag inside out (the outer side facing outwards). Press the seams with an iron.

7.   Sew together the sides of the previously sewn seams of the inside lining and the outside bag and press using an iron.

8.   Sew along the flap at the bottom of the outer bag.

9.   Sew the bottom corners of the outside bag.

10.   Repeat step number eight and nine for the inside lining – only finish one of the corners.

11.   Turn the bag inside out through the hole at other corner and sew this hole together at the end.

12.   Press all the seams with an iron. You may want to sew a stitching all the way along the edge.
