Clay flower jewellery

Create these pretty flower jewellery pieces with fine clay polymer. The flowers are made of blue and white jewellery clay that is shaped in silicone moulds and hardened in the oven. The beads are threaded onto cord to create necklaces and bracelets. This project promotes children’s creative immersion and fine motor skills.

How to do it

Knead the jewellery clay well to make it soft and supple.

Mix blue and white jewellery clay. The picture shows 3 different mixtures:

1. Mix the two colours for a marbled design.
2. Mix the two colours for a lighter marbled design.
3. Mix the two colours to make light blue.

Make different types of flowers. Roll a ball for the bud and press it into the mould.

Now fill the rest of the mould with the desired colour.

Pop the flowers out of the mould and make a hole for the cord before baking the flowers in the oven. Insert the eye pin and move it around a little to make sure the hole is large enough. The stem is not hardened in the oven.

Bake the flowers in the oven at 120 degrees for 20 minutes and then allow to cool. The flowers are completely hard after 2-3 hours.

Measure the cord so that it is long enough for the knots and closure. Thread on the beads and flowers. Tie a knot on both ends to prevent the beads from slipping.

Make an adjustable knot as the closure. Tie a loop on the right side and pull the left side of the cord through the loop.

Tighten the loop into a knot around the left piece of cord. Now take the left side of the cord and tie a knot around it on the right side of the cord.

Thread two beads onto the elastic cord and tie a knot to prevent them from falling off.

Cut off the excess cord. If desired, make the jewellery with different designs – such as with knots between the beads as on this necklace.

Make jewellery on elastic cord with jewellery clay flowers and rocaille seed beads. Measure around your arm and neck to determine the length of the elastic cord. Remember to add extra cord for knots.
