Bubble sculptures in coloured resin casting mix

1   "IMPORTANT: If you want to make coloured castings with resin casting mix, stir the paint into the water before pouring it into the resin. Pour the mixture into the resin and stir thoroughly until the mixture has a creamy consistency. You can add more powder to thicken it or more water to make it creamier.

For these two sculptures, you will need a total of 300 g of resin casting mix.

The mixing ratio is approx. 100 g resin casting mix to 35 g water in addition to paint. See the instructions on the bag.
Use the mixture within approx. 20 minutes after stirring because it hardens quickly.

Mix a total of 240 g of resin to make a large bubble sculpture.
White: approx. 160 g + 56 g water.
Purple: approx. 80 g + 28 g water + 1.5 g paint.

Mix 60 g of resin for a small bubble sculpture.
White: approx. 40 g resin + 14 g water.
Purple: approx. 20 g resin + 7 g water + 0.5 g paint."

2   Mix the paint thoroughly with the water.

3   Pour the mixture with water and paint into the resin.

4   Stir until creamy.

5   Mix the white resin.

6   Stir until creamy.

7   Pour the white resin into the mould around 1 cm from the edge.

8   Create a marble effect. Pour the purple colour to the edge and use the spatula to mix it in slightly.

9   Remove the air bubbles by tapping the bottom of the mould repeatedly for around 3 minutes.

10   Mix purple resin for the small bubble sculpture. Fill the mould and remove the air bubbles.

11   Allow the casting to dry for at least 2-4 hours. After it has dried, roll down the silicone mould and remove the casting.

12   Sand away any unevenness with water and a sanding sponge or sandpaper.
