A wall hanging decoration from faux leather paper, rattan and raffia paper yarn

Make a wall hanging decoration with a natural look. Use faux leather paper and fine rattan as the background and weave with faux leather paper star strips and raffia paper yarn on the front. Divide the wall hanging decoration into sections and add tassels at the bottom.

How to do it

Use a complete 50 x 40 cm piece of fine rattan. Smooth it out by ironing it underneath a damp tea towel. Draw sections on the rattan for weaving and for tassels using a pencil and a ruler. Cut many pieces of 25 cm (long) raffia paper yarn. Fill the section with tassels by threading raffia paper yarn onto a yarn needle and sewing them onto every other hole in the rattan. Sew from the front to the back and then back to the front in the same hole. Make a loop and feed the ends through the loop. Tighten the knot. Stagger the rows of the tassel so that they cover the background of the wall hanging decoration.

Cut a 60 cm piece of faux leather paper (at full width). Fold over 6 cm at the top, forming the casing for the stick. Make 2 mm holes with 2 cm between each hole through both layers of paper using a screw punch. Begin approx. 1 cm from the edge. Make holes at the bottom of the faux leather paper as well.
