A Bracelet from 4 plaited Satin Cords & a Cabochon in the Middle

This bracelet is plaited from two doubled-over satin cords on either side of a cabochon in a spacer bead. The fastener is a two-part magnetic clasp which is glued onto the bracelet.

How to do it

1   Glue a cabochon onto a spacer bead using Clear Multi Glue gel. Leave to dry.

2   Feed two 1 m satin cords through the eyelets on each side of the spacer bead, arranging them in a doubled-over fashion.. Secure the spacer bead on a clip board.

3   Plait as illustrated in the steps below.

4   Please note that we have used four colours in the instructions for you to easily follow the principles of this technique.

5   Start with the blue – on the very left. Place this to the right, over the two cords in the middle – yellow and pink, respectively.

6   Place the green cord – on the very right – to the left over the nearest cord – the blue cord.

7   Place the yellow cord – on the very left – to the right over the two middle cords – pink and green, respectively.

8   Place the blue cord – on the very right – to the left over the nearest cord – the yellow cord.

9   Tighten with every plait.

10   When the desired length is reached, tie a cord tightly around the bracelet. Now turn the spacer bead in the clip board in order to plait the other side. Repeat the plaiting procedure with the two doubled-over cords on the other eyelet of the spacer bead.

11   Cut off the excess cords at both ends and glue the plait inside each part of the two-part magnetic clasp. A TIP! You may use a tapestry needle for pushing the plaits inside the clasp. Leave to dry.
