3D Christmas baubles made from handmade paper
#v15976
Make a 3D Christmas bauble by cutting out five identical shapes from a template. Sew them together laid on top of each other using a sewing machine. Secure the ends by tying a knot at each end. Unfold the Christmas bauble from the centre. You may decorate the bauble with glitter glue on the edges.

How to do it Download the templates/recipes
1 Print out the template which is available as a PDF file at the bottom of this page. Cut out five identical bauble shapes either from the same piece of patterned paper or from different pieces of patterned paper. For a different design, cut three shapes from one piece of patterned paper and two from a different piece of patterned paper as shown in the photo.
2 Place the bauble-shaped paper cut-outs on top of eachother and fasten them together using a sewing machine. You don't need a special setting on your sewing machine for sewing paper, but a jeans sewing machine needle enables you to easily sew through all the layers of paper. Practise on scrap paper. Don't secure the ends but instead pull out approx. 15 cm of the lower thread and the upper thread behind prior to sewing. Sew down the middle of the layers and pull out approx. 15 cm of lower and upper thread before cutting.
3 Tie a double knot at each end of the Christmas bauble. Trim the threads closely at the bottom of the bauble, but keep the threads at the top; see the next step.
5 Unfold the Christmas bauble by bending the two layers on each side of the middle forwards and backwards.
